Switzerland Forest – "an endless view"

We recommend walking at twilight or even in the evening when the city's lights are twinkling.

Tiberias in the Footsteps of the Three Great Religions
2-3 hour hiking path for the whole family. During the summer it is advisable to walk in the late afternoon.
Hiking path:
- Starting point: Archeological Park on Habanin Street. Visit the remnants of the old Jewish synagogue with its renewed mosaic floor depicting the four species of Sukkoth.
- Continue south to the 18th century southern wall built by the Bedouin sheikh Zu-Daher El Omar.
- Go down, by the eastern walls to the city's "Alon Promenade" by the Sea of Galilee shore, where you will find the Greek Orthodox Church which was built at the end of the 19th century in memory of Peter – Shimon Bar Yona, one of Jesus's disciples. The Jewish tradition claims that this church had been built on an old Jewish synagogue from the 16 century.
- Follows the promenade going north till you reach El-Bahari Muslims Sea Mosque which had been built by the dominate Daher El Omar for the Muslims fisherman. It Keep going north. By Caesar Hotel, visit the Franciscan Catholic Church – saint. Peter from the הכיבוש הצלבני של העיר.
- Go on north to the end of city promenade and turn left. On our right you may find the Scottish Galilee church – Saint Andrews. Across the road visit the Scottish motel which had been active till late of the 1950 as a hospital managing by the missioner Dr. David Turnaes.
- Across the road you may see Muslim mosque and from their keep going to the promenade direction to the Jewish court where you may find several synagogues.
Beraniki Mountain
The mountain is named for Beraniki, sister of Agripas II, who ruled Tiberias in 61 BC. In archaeological digs done on the summit, a Byzantine church was found, from the 6th century BC. This church had been active till the Crusaders' era (12th century BC.) At this site are traces of the ancient Byzantine wall, 10 m. in length and made of basalt stones with squared towers at the end of the wall.
